Free beer for golfers at Imperial Golf Club

JAKARTA (JP): The Imperial Golf Club at Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang, is offering free beer to golfers who wish to participate in six tournaments on Saturdays and Sundays in January.

Organizer Perucha Hutagaol said on Friday the free beer campaign for the golfers was sponsored in cooperation with the golf club and PT Multi Bintang Indonesia, a privately owned beer company.

"We are offering free beer not only for its promotion, but to attract as many participants as possible (Indonesians and expatriates). We expect about 200 golfers will take part in the six tournaments on Jan. 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30," Perucaha told The Jakarta Post.

But Perucha said that golfers had to book first in order to get the free beer. Golfers may choose a start time from between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. or 11 a.m. until night.

Booking fees are Rp 309,500 for weekend mornings and Rp 240,000 for weekend afternoons. Prices include green fees, caddy fees, tax and golfer's insurance.

"The golfers will have to play 18 holes to receive the free beer, which is unlimited in quantity," Perucha said.

Apart from the free beer, Perucha said the club would give away five crates of canned beers plus a one-year membership to any golfer who could make a hole in one.

She added that the other purpose to hold the six tournaments was to let the golfers do business on the field. "They may talk or do business either on the field or at the clubhouse."

Perucha further said it was the first time the club had held such an event.

"The club is considering to hold the event annually. It all depends on the sponsor and enthusiasm of the participants," said Nina Puspita, also from the club. (lnt)
