France invites RI amateur boxers
JAKARTA (JP): Local amateur boxers were given a rare
opportinity to enrich their skill when France invite them for an
exhibition in Indian Oceania Festival, an official said on
Thursday.
The festival, according to Hamdhany, chairman of the
organizing committee of the Bandung-based Padjadjaran University
tour, was scheduled for June 1 to 24 in France.
Hamdhanny met with deputy secretary-general of the Indonesian
Amateur Boxing Association (Pertina) Didiet Soedijoto in Senayan
and requested the body field its boxers at the one-month
festival.
He said the boxers would play in a series of exhibition in
Rouen, Le Havre and Dieppe.
"An official at the Indonesian Embassy in France had asked us
to bring along four boxers for the exhibition."
Didiet said Pertina would study the invitation, but hinted
that it would most likely send three boxers and a trainer, who
have been groomed for the Sept. 8 to Sept. 17 Southeast Asian
(SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur. (ivy)
