Fourteen countries set for bridge event
JAKARTA: Participants from 13 foreign countries are confirmed to take on local bridge players in the Bank Indonesian Governor Cup international contract bridge tournament on Sept. 13-Sept. 18 in Jakarta.
Indonesia will field five teams -- the national senior team, open team, women's team, Geologi team and Bank BNI team -- in the US$80,000 tournament.
"The tournament has attracted many strong teams because they want to warm up ahead of this year's Bermuda Bowl in Estoril, Portugal," Miranda Goeltom, head of the Indonesian Contract Bridge Association (Gabsi), was quoted as saying in a release here on Wednesday.
Visiting teams are from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Germany, India, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea and the United States. --JP
