Four RI children to attend World Cup
JAKARTA: Four Indonesian children will join children around the world to meet and escort top soccer players in the 2002 World Cup through a program organized by McDonald's Indonesia.
The four children, ages ranging from six to 10 years old, will be selected from among 28 finalists in the final selection procedure of the McDonald's Player Escort Program at Mandarin Oriental hotel, Central Jakarta, on Sunday.
The 28 finalists were singled out from 600 children in the first selection from Jan. 18 to March 18, when they were asked to write a composition titled Andai Aku Bermain Satu Tim Dengan ... (I Wish I Was Playing in the Same Team With..).
Two out of the four winners will be sent to Korea while the other two fly to Japan, where the Cup begins next month. Each child will be accompanied by a chaperone. -- JP
