Four questioned over 'disrespect'

CIREBON, West Java: Cirebon Police questioned on Tuesday four university students for alleged disrespect toward a state symbol and officials.

The students were Agung Supirno, Qoribullah, Mulyadi and Tirto Wiguno, all from Swadaya Gunung Jati University, Cirebon.

They were questioned after they lowered the red-and-white national flag to half-mast in the compound of Cirebon Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday last week, and also threw rotten tomatoes at the office building.

The students held the protest to demand a speedy investigation into corruption allegations that involved 30 local councillors and a former Cirebon mayor. -- JP
