Four people report kidnapping, assault

TANGERANG: Four residents of Bencongan subdistrict, Tangerang, filed a police report on Tuesday saying they had been kidnapped and assaulted over the weekend by a group of unidentified people.

In the complaint, the four people said they had been kidnapped and assaulted over the course of almost 20 hours by seven people who they claimed were members of the Navy.

Curug Police chief Adj. Comr. Suyono said the case had been handed over to the Navy military police in Cilandak, South Jakarta.

The victims were identified as Rahmat Lasmono, 27, a student at Gunadarma University; Mardiko, 26, a lecturer at Syekh Yusuf Islam University in Tangerang; Nano Setiono, 45; and his 20-year- old son Erik Fauzan.

The victims said they did not know why they were kidnapped, but suspected it had something to do with a brawl between residents last month, which also involved a marine family. -- JP
