Four new busway projects in 2006

JAKARTA: The city administration is going ahead with its plan to develop four new busway corridors next year to bring the total to seven by end 2006.

City Transportation Agency head Nurrachman said on Thursday the construction of the new corridors would cost Rp 876.7 billion.

Those new routes would connect Pulogadung in East Jakarta to Jl. Imam Bonjol in Central Jakarta; Jl. Imam Bonjol to Ragunan in South Jakarta; Kampung Melayu in East Jakarta to Ancol in North Jakarta; and Kampung Melayu to Kampung Rambutan in East Jakarta.

"We will reroute traffic on streets affected by the construction of those routes," Nurrachman said.

The city is also building two corridors from Pulogadung to Harmoni in Central Jakarta and from Harmoni to Kalideres in West Jakarta. --JP
