Four missing students found

JAKARTA (JP): Rescue workers and fishermen have found four of the seven junior and senior high school students who went missing after being dragged by waves off Kiaralawang beach in the Cinangka district of Serang regency, Banten on Sunday, a report said.

A police officer of Cinangka Police Subprecinct Office, identified as Sofian, said on Monday that the seven students were swimming at the beach, famous for its coral reefs, when the waves hit them.

"Three of the students -- Syarif Hidayat, 17, Yulia, 17, and Dede Kurniawan, 20, were found half an hour after they were reported missing, while Asmari, 16, was found by fishermen on Monday morning," the officer said, as quoted by Antara.

Rescue workers are still looking for the other three students -- Sarifudin, 20, Anggi Saputra, 13, and Dayat, 22.

Sofian said he did not know why the students swam at the prohibited area.

"Such cases occur repeatedly as many people, mainly youths, frequently ignore the notice warning of the danger," he said. (imn)
