Four killed near tourist attraction

BANJARMASIN, South Sulawesi: Four senior high school students from Banjarmasin were killed after falling from a cliff near a popular tourist resort in Tanah Laut regency, South Kalimantan.

The final body was recovered on Monday, while the other three were discovered on Sunday near the Bijuan waterfall resort located in the village of Pelaihari, some 75 kilometers from Banjarmasin.

The four victims were believed to have been killed instantly after falling from a section of Bijuan Mountain after heavy rains there.

The dead youths, on holiday in the area, suffered serious head injuries after falling to the rocks below.

The four were buried on Sunday and Monday.

Tanah Laut Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Cecep said on Monday that water levels in the area had risen on Saturday following heavy rains. --JP
