Four killed in toll road accident

BOGOR: Four people were killed and nine others injured when their minivan -- heading from Garut, West Java, to Tangerang -- tipped over on the Jagorawi toll road on Tuesday at around 4 a.m.

The bodies of the four victims -- Atam, 42; Akub, 45; Ato, 21; and Chairuddin, 57 -- were brought to the Indonesian Red Cross Hospital in Bogor. Those wounded were taken to the UKI Hospital in Cawang, East Jakarta.

A police officer patrolling the Jagorawi toll road, Chief Brig. Iwan, said that the passengers were heading to Tangerang to attend a relative's wedding ceremony when suddenly another car hit the minivan, causing it to tip over.

Police are still investigating the case as the driver of the car that hit the minivan did not stop. -- JP
