Four boxers picked for Asiad

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Boxing Association's secretary- general, Didit Soedijoto, announced on Wednesday the four boxers who will represent the country in the 13th Asian Games in Bangkok in December.

The quartet -- light flyweight La Paene Masara, flyweight Hermansen Ballo, welterweight Bara Gommies and middleweight Albert Papilaya -- will leave for a three-month training stint in Cuba on Monday. They will be accompanied by coaches Julio Lee Hechavarria from Cuba and Wiem Gommies.

Didit said the four had performed commendably during the association's training program and several trials. They won gold medals in the Pattimura Cup last month, the last trial for the Asiad. (yan)
