Four arrested for selling drugs

JAKARTA (JP): Police arrested yesterday three men and a woman and seized 13,500 barbiturate pills from the suspects in a rented house on Jl. Kebon Pala, Tanah Abang district, in Central Jakarta.

Tanah Abang Police Chief Maj. Zulkarnain said the drug sellers were Komarudin, 56, Regi, 29, Musa, 37, and a woman identified as EN, 50.

"Police have spied on the suspects who operated at Tanah Abang market for almost a week," Zulkarnain said.

He said police also grabbed Rp 1 million (US$425.53) from the suspects.

He said they bought the pills which were in Nipam, Rohipnol and Mogadon, from a big drug dealer in the Senen market area, in Central Jakarta.

Police were trying to catch the dealer, he said. "We hope we catch him soon."

The suspects admitted selling ten pills for Rp 2,000, he said.

He said police would crackdown on drug dealers in the Senen market area which is known for its mobile drug sellers. (jun)
