Four arrested for murdering

CIREBON, West Java: The Cirebon police precinct on Monday arrested four people suspected of murdering a sixteen-year-old girl, Marta, who was initially believed to have been hit by a train.

"Four suspects have been arrested, including the victim's boyfriend and a woman, who is the victim's neighbor," head of Cirebon police Col. M. Arfah was quoted by Antara as saying yesterday.

The suspects, identified as Al, 18, Mus, 25, Dah, 19, and War, 14, allegedly planned the murder a day before the victim was found floating in a river below the train track.

The motive for the murder is said to have arisen because the victim, who was brutally abused, demanded her boyfriend to marry her. (ste)
