Four arrested for motorcycle theft

BEKASI: Bekasi Police arrested four suspects in a motorcycle theft case early on Wednesday and seized a dozen stolen motorcycles.

Bekasi Police chief of detectives Comr. Hendro Pandowo said that the suspects were Sukarman, 37, Djumirin, 28, Edi Djunaidi, 25 and Rahono, 35.

Police managed to arrest the gang after Edi's neighbors tipped off the police.

Police arrested Edi at his home in Jaka Sampurna subdistrict, Bekasi. Edi admitted that he bought the motorcycle for only Rp 2 million (US$235.30) from suspects Sukarman and Djumirin.

Both suspects were apprehended in Kranji subdistrict, Bekasi. Police officers shot Djumirin in the leg as he tried to resist arrest.

The three admitted that the motorcycles were bought by Rahono, who was later arrested in Tambelang district, Bekasi. -- Antara
