Four arrested for arson

BOGOR (JP): Bogor police have arrested four people, who were allegedly responsible for setting fire to three houses, situated on Jl. Parung Banteng in Katulampa village, East Bogor district on Tuesday, an officer said on Wednesday.

Bogor Police Precinct detectives chief Sr. Insp. Roy Hardi Siahaan said the police were still questioning to clarify the motive.

"The four suspects, who live only one kilometer away from the fire, decided to set the houses ablaze as they have been built on disputed land," Siahaan said.

One of the three houses belonged to a villager named Ujang, while the remaining two belonged to Uwes. Uwes had rented his two houses to seven families.

Siahaan said the angry men claimed that the land belonged to them, while Uwes and Ujang said that they had procured the land from the rightful owner, named as Menol. (21/lup)
