Four alleged pushers arrested

JAKARTA (JP): City police detectives have apprehended three more alleged drug traffickers in separate raids, following the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker at a hotel on Jl. Pramuka in Central Jakarta on Friday.

Newly appointed city police chief of detectives Sr. Comr. Adang Rohjana said on Saturday the suspects arrested were 30-year-old Tommy, a resident of Jl. Janur Kuning II in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, 32-year-old Edi Wijaya, a resident of West Palmerah subdistrict in West Jakarta, Iwung and 46-year-old Hendri Winata, residents of North Palmerah subdistrict.

Adang said that upon receiving a tip-off from the public, the city police then sent plainclothes officers to buy drugs from Tommy in room 325 of the hotel on Jl. Pramuka.

"During the transaction, the suspect was caught red-handed in possession of 40 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine), 40 ecstasy pills in the hotel room," Adang said on Saturday.

He said the police managed to arrest three other suspects based on a statement given by Tommy during questioning.

Police also reportedly seized a packet of shabu-shabu, four reefers and a handmade .22 caliber Colt pistol from Iwung, which he allegedly offered for sale at Rp 1 million to an plainclothes officer, while from Edi Wijaya police allegedly seized 9.3 grams of shabu-shabu and 22.6 grams of shabu-shabu from Hendri Winata.

"Iwung testified to police that he had obtained the gun, the shabu-shabu and the reefers from friends at the hotel," Adang said. (01)
