Forum to discuss mining

JAKARTA (JP): The ASEAN Federation of Mining Associations, in
cooperation with worldwide mining institutions, plans to hold the
4th Asia Pacific mining conference and exhibition at the Jakarta
Hilton Convention Center here from Oct. 26 to Oct. 29.

The federation's secretariat here reported yesterday that the
forum, to carry the theme "World Mining Challenges to the Next
Century," is expected to help promote mining development in Asia
and the Pacific as well as to initiate various business meetings
for all parties involved in the industry.

The conference will discuss mineral policies, mining
technology, coal and mineral development, mineral processing,
taxation and investment, mining regulation and environment
issues.

During the four-day conference, the forum will also display a
major exhibition of mining equipment and technology from Canada,
Australia, Singapore, Germany, Malaysia, the United States,
Russia, China, Italy and Indonesia. (fhp)
