Fortune-tellers deported to China

JAKARTA (JP): The Directorate General for Immigration deported on Wednesday three Chinese nationals for breaching immigration rules, an immigration official said.

The three, identified as Huang Tuan Zhang, 24, Guo Ya Ren, 25, and Huang Wen Tao, 33, were apprehended last Friday at the Trans Mangga Dua Hotel in West Jakarta.

"The three were deported today on a China Airlines flight number CZ388 from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport," Directorate General for Immigration spokesman Mursanuddin A. Gani said on Wednesday.

Director of Immigration Supervision and Action Zaiman Nurmatias said on Tuesday that the three, who entered the country on social-cultural visit visas on Oct. 2, had been working as fortune-tellers.

"Immigration officials arrested the three while they were hosting guests who were asking about their fortunes.

"The three had been monitored by officials for some time. On the day of the raid, they had already seen 10 customers," Zaiman said in a press statement. (edt/jun)
