Formula Asia delays race

JAKARTA (JP): Organizers of the national Formula Asia auto racing championship postponed yesterday the competition for seven days, until next week, after three cars failed to enter the country on time.

"The cars have yet to arrive here after taking part in the Formula Asia race in Zhuhai, China, on Nov. 2 and Nov. 3," said chief of the committee, Rio Sarwono, adding that the cars would come in by Tuesday.

National championship leader Ananda Mikola said that the delay would not distract him in his bid to maintain his top position. "No problems. I have more time to prepare," said 15-year-old Ananda, dubbed Indonesia's future Formula One driver. (amd)
