Former Syariah staff reported to police

JAKARTA: Ananto Nugroho, an employee of Bank Mandiri Syariah, filed a police report on Friday against former company branch pawn unit head Trigianto for allegedly embezzling billions of rupiah and customer collateral.

Ananto said from Feb. 17 to March 3 Trigianto, who worked in Mandiri Syariah on Jl. Kyai Maja, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta had exchanged gold collateral placed by customers with fakes.

He said that Trigianto had also stolen a huge amount of cash before disappearing on March 3, causing billions in losses for the state-owned company.

City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono said that police would try to summons Trigianto before declaring him a suspect.

"We will put him on our wanted list if he doesn't show up after three summonses," he said. -- JP
