Former official turns to robbery
SERANG, West Java: A man arrested by police in Serang Thursday for robbery turned out to be a former secretary of the Lamaran village in the Carenang district, Antara reported.
The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Salim.
He was arrested, along with an accomplice, two hours after taking part in a holdup at a food stall in the Cikande subdistrict.
The pair were riding a stolen motorbike with some of the goods they had robbed from the food stall's owners and patrons, including jewelry, a cassette player and cash, police said.
Besides revealing his identity, Salim told police investigators he had been involved in nine other robberies. (emb)
