Former official gives back property
BEKASI (JP): Former Bekasi deputy regent H. Dede Satibi has returned all the property belonging to the Bekasi administration he used during his tenure in office, an official said.
Regency spokesman Agus Sjamsuridjal said on Thursday that the returned goods consisted of 24 items, ranging from cupboards, beds and television sets to a Daihatsu jeep, Toyota Kijang van and Toyota Corona car.
"The act of returning the goods constitutes a good example for other officials, who no longer hold their old posts," Agus was quoted by Antara as saying.
Dede handed over the goods to Soemirat, one of the regency's secretaries, on Aug. 22, he said.
"So reports that Dede still held the regency's property were baseless," he said, referring to recent media report on the use facilities by the former official.
Soemirat had said earlier that the Bekasi regency was in the process of making an inventory of the public property still being used by former officials so as to enable the regency to improve efficiency during the current crisis. (hhr)
