Former military commander dies
JAKARTA (JP): Former Siliwangi military commander Lt. Gen. (ret) Ibrahim Adjie died at age 77 on Friday morning in Singapore, Antara news agency reported on Friday.
The agency said he died at his apartment in the company of his wife and a physician. His body is scheduled to be brought to Istiqomah Mosque on the grounds of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, where prayers will be conducted.
It was not reported where Ibrahim would be buried.
Ibrahim, born in Bogor, West Java, on Feb. 24, 1923, served as Siliwangi military commander in West Java from 1960 to 1966, after which he served as ambassador to Great Britain until 1970.
He attended the Army Staff College at Fort Benning in the United States.
The agency reported Ibrahim, a recipient of a high honor, the Mahaputra Ulama medal in 1994, died of lung ailments.
