Former forestry minister buried

SURAKARTA, Central Java: Former forestry minister Soedjarwo was buried at the Bonoloyo public cemetery in a military ceremony led by Minister of Forestry M. Prakosa on Wednesday.

His body had earlier been taken to the auditorium of the Sebelas Maret University (UNS) where he was a member of the board of patrons.

Soedjarwo passed away at the Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore on Monday.

Prakosa said in his speech that the forestry ministry had lost one of its best sons.

Soedjarwo started his career with the ministry as a staff member and held the ministerial position twice. He received 15 awards from the state during his career.

Soedjarwo had also been a legislator and a member of the now- defunct Supreme Advisory Council (DPA).

He was born in Wonogiri, Central Java, some 30 kilometers south of his grave. - Antara.
