Former councillor robbed on street

BEKASI: Former deputy chairman of the Bekasi City Council, Salim Musa, was robbed by a group of unidentified men on Thursday at around 6 p.m. when he was driving through Jl. Juanda, Bekasi, in his Honda City.

Police said on Thursday that the victim was driving along the street when he found himself sandwiched between two Toyota Kijang minivans. He stopped to wind down the window, when suddenly four men got out of the cars and one of them pointed a knife to his neck.

The robbers demanded that he hand over his car, his wristwatch, a bag, a wallet containing Rp 700,000 (US$75.46) in cash, gold rings, two cell phones and ATM cards. They then fled the scene heading in the direction of Pasar Baru.

"I was in a state of panic so I could not remember the two cars' license plate numbers," Salim said.
