Former Bank DKI boss denies diploma doubt
JAKARTA (JP): Former marketing and credit director of city- owned Bank DKI, Siti Aisyah Margareth Rose Harahap, who was fired on May 7 by city governor Sutiyoso, has denied the latter's allegation that she used a fake university degree for the job.
"That is a lie. A blatant lie," Siti told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.
Siti insisted that she never used such a diploma but a certificate of her bachelor's degree from the Perbanas Academy of Accountancy.
"All institutions (that I've worked with) knew that what I gave them was a copy of my bachelor's degree from Perbanas. It's also those institutions that had issued recommendation letters to have me installed as a Bank DKI director," Siti said.
She then showed several documents, such as a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Jakarta administration, that supported her words.
Siti admitted that she was a university graduate of banking but had lost her diploma.
"I had told representatives from the institutions that I had lost my university degree and could only provide them with my bachelor's degree. And they accepted that," she said.
As reported last week, Sutiyoso fired her on the grounds that she had used a dud university diploma.
"This is just another ploy (of the administration) to scare me so that I won't reveal any evidence (of alleged corruption) I have against them and high-ranking Bank DKI officials," she said.
Siti said that during the four months she held the post, she had collected evidence against high-ranking officials in the administration and Bank DKI responsible for saddling the bank with bad loans amounting to Rp 318 billion.
"I have that information with me. Once I get legal protection, I will reveal all of it... I have no fear of anything anymore," she said. (ylt)
