JAMBI, Jambi: More than 5,145 foreign tourists visited the
province of Jambi in 1996, spending Rp 772 million, the head of
Jambi's tourism service, Ruslan Bahaudina, was quoted by Antara
as saying on Friday.

He also said that the foreign tourists stayed an average of
four days and spent an average of Rp 150,000 (US$63) day.

The tourists -- many coming from Japan, Holland and Australia
-- mostly visited historical sites, handicraft centers, the thick
