Foreigner arrested

JAKARTA (JP): A 56-year-old Pakistani was arrested yesterday morning, accused of damaging a Mercedes-Benz sedan and possessing a sharp weapon in a public place, police say.

Zabir allegedly damaged the luxurious sedan owned by Arief Irwan Hakim in front of a restaurant on Jl. Wahid Hasyim in the early hours of yesterday, City Police spokesman Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna said on Wednesday.

"We're still working on his case including finding out whether he was drunk or not," Iman said.

A police source at the scene said that the Pakistani appeared to be very drunk before hitting the parked car. (bsr)
