Foreign universities

Allowing foreign universities to operate in Indonesia is good because this will give students more choices. I believe one way to improve the quality of Indonesian schools is to promote a more competitive environment.

I would also suggest that the government give more flexibility to schools to design their own curriculums and teaching materials. With more flexibility, schools can better adapt to market demands.

One particular issue I want to call the government's attention to is the regulation which prohibits children with an Indonesian father from attending an international school. There are many decisions that a mixed-marriage couple have to make: where to live, what nationalities the children should adopt, what school they should attend.

I believe all these decisions can best be decided by the families themselves. So, I plead with the authorities to allow the children of foreign nationalities with foreign mothers but Indonesian fathers to attend international schools (should they choose to do so).
