Foreign drivers set for 7th Touring Car
JAKARTA (JP): A tight race among three leading European cars is expected to materialize at the Sentul international track on Sunday when the Southeast Asia Touring Car '94 gets underway.
A field of more than 30 cars, mostly European models like BMW, Mercedes Benz and Alfa Romeo will battle for the top spot in Division One of the race, the seventh leg in the series.
The first two legs were held in Thailand, the next three in Malaysia. Indonesia will host two legs, the first on Sunday and the second next month, chief committee Tinton Suprapto said.
The BMW team currently leads after finishing second and third in the Thailand races and winning all three in Malaysia.
"We think we can make it again in Sentul. The track is in excellent condition and very fast," a BMW official said. (rsl)
