Foreign artists not easy to control

An official of the City Public Order office says it is difficult to control foreign artists, who perform in the city's exclusive areas, including hotels, but are not equipped with necessary permits.

"We face difficulty in controlling the artists who perform here on tourist visas," A.F. Lapian, deputy of the city security office, said on Wednesday, urging local sponsors not to invite them if they are unable to obtain the necessary documents.

Sponsors of all cultural and music shows in the city are required to obtain permits, especially those which present foreign artists, he said.

Lapian also said that his office has thus far temporary sealed amusement centers in a number of star-rated hotels for breaking various regulations, including selling tickets higher than the prices originally proposed by the City Revenue Office. (yns)
