Flying of national flag

From Kompas

I have been concerned recently over the hoisting of our national flag in front of houses, private companies and state enterprises. This state symbol has now lost much of its significance as it is quite common to see the flag unfurled improperly for months on end in front of many houses and offices. In other cases, the flag is made of cheap cloth, showing a lack of attention on the part of the house/office building owners.

Unfortunately, this situation is found in Jakarta, the very capital of the Republic of Indonesia and the yardstick by which Indonesia will be judged.

In commemorating our 56th independence day and as part of the effort to better display our patriotism, allow me to call on my fellow citizens to fly proper flags, and to request that relevant authorities ensure that the flag is properly hoisted.
