Flummoxed by Wiranto story

The article titled What to do with Wiranto? in The Jakarta Post on Feb. 28 left me somewhat flummmoxed. Being rather a long- time supporter of the General, I could not decide exactly what the writer was trying to convey.

The only part which seemed to make sense was "The nation should not let Wiranto be humiliated by a foreign court". Hounded, is also a word that comes to mind.

Unfortunately I missed earlier in the week Wiranto's press interview -- which presumably was enlightening. But, all in all, appears to be a leader who has stood by his principles and convictions. An eloquent man who seems to be held in high regard by many of the Indonesian elite and also by his former subordinates.

I should suggest here that the writer may like to rewrite his article and avoid humiliating Indonesian citizens further by not in the same breath, making obscure references to minister's activities in New Zealand hotels.
