Flora, fauna expo to open on Friday

JAKARTA: The city administration will hold an exhibition of Jakarta's flora and fauna from Aug. 5 to Aug. 29.

The "Flona Jakarta 2005" exhibition will feature 561 individual and 23 institutional participants, who will display a range of agricultural, gardening and farming products.

Among the additional attractions will be the Ragunan Zoo snake demonstration and traditional art performances.

The organizing committee will also arrange various competitions, including sports, agricultural, painting and beauty contests.

Governor Sutiyoso will open the exhibition, which will be held daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Lapangan Banteng in Central Jakarta. -- JP
