Floods cut off Kalimantan road

PALANGKARAYA, Central Kalimantan: Floods cutting off the trans-Kalimantan highway in Tumbang Nusa village, Pulang Pisau regency, Central Kalimantan, are blocking commodity deliveries from Java island.

Commodities, which should have been delivered to Central Kalimantan, have been piling up for a week in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, a cargo delivery firm executive said on Friday.

Haidir, an employee of CV Nusantara, said his company had sought alternative forms of transportation like canoes to carry cargo to Palangkaraya, but found it impossible due to the size of the commodities. --Antara
