Flood victims to get assistance

MALANG, East Java: The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) will begin disbursing food and other aid on Thursday to flood victims in three Malang districts, a PMI volunteer said on Wednesday.

Families will receive five kilograms of rice and other food, including instant noodles and sugar, as well as used clothes, said Yuniwawan Andrianto.

Flooding hit southern Malang on Sunday and Monday, killing one person and damaging dozens of homes. Thousands of heads of cattle also reportedly died in the flooding. -- JP
