FKUI to celebrate anniversary

JAKARTA: The University of Indonesia's School of Medicine (FKUI) will mark its 52nd anniversary with a series of scientific events, to be held at Jakarta Convention Center from April 11 through to April 14.

Around 5,000 medical workers and the general public are expected to take part in seminars, short courses and an exhibition on health aimed at improving professionalism and knowledge of participants, the event's organizing committee chairman Ali Sulaiman, told reporters on Wednesday.

"During the event, we will launch our program to establish the university as one of the prominent educational institutions in Asian Pacific in 2010," Ali said.

There will be 19 courses and 21 symposiums offered during the celebration.

The school has produced 10,600 graduates since it was established in February 1950.

President Megawati Soekarnoputri is expected to open the anniversary celebration on April 11. -- JP
