Five students still missing
JAKARTA (JP): At least five university students are considered missing after the bloody Friday the 13th incident at Semanggi, a representative of a student organization said.
"As of 3 p.m. today, five of our friends have not reported in person to our post here," Ki Joyo Sardo, spokesman of the Big Family of University of Indonesia (Keluarga Besar UI), said on Tuesday.
"We have tried to reach them by beeping their pagers but still we got no answer."
Ki Joyo identified the five as Titin, Marsellinus and Nurhuda of the University of Indonesia, and Burhan and Sugito from institutions outside Jakarta.
He and his colleagues have also contacted relatives of Titin and Marsellinus about their whereabouts, but to no avail.
On Sunday, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) announced that six students from various universities and colleges were missing after clashes with troops.
There are Khatibul of the Driyarkara School of Philosophy, Haerudin from LP3I college in Tangerang, Dwi Irmawati from STEI economic college in Jakarta, Ida Bagus Jayeng from Borobudur University, Fauzi from Gunadarma University and Oki Januardo from Jakarta University.
The Jakarta Police has said only that arrests of alleged looters and extortionists were made on Friday and during riots on Saturday. (edt)
