Five sought over armed robbery

BOGOR (JP): Bogor Police are searching for five men, in connection with an armed robbery of a house in Cimandala village, Bogor on Sunday night.

The robbers got away with a 7.92 millimeter calibre black rifle, gold jewelry worth millions of rupiah, a 14-inch TV set, a tape deck, two mobile phones and Rp 2.6 million cash, from the residence of 45-year-old Tonny Wijaya.

Tonny told police that at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, a man had knocked on his front door and as his maidservant, Maryati, opened it, four other men stormed in.

Tonny said that while one man waited in a parked Kijang van, four robbers tied his legs and hands up, along with the legs and hands of his daughter Lydia and Maryati.

"The robbers threatened to kill us if we made a sound. They asked us where we kept our money and jewelry... we pointed to where they were kept," Tonny told reporters on Monday.

"They took away everything, and sped off in a Kijang van. It was too hard for us to see the van's registration number." (21/ylt)
