Five police precincts to get new chiefs

JAKARTA (JP): Five of the nine chiefs of police precincts in the city will be officially replaced in ceremonies lead by Jakarta Police Chief Maj. Gen. Hamami Nata beginning next week.

The first ceremony will be held next Tuesday in Tangerang when Hamami installs Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna, currently the city police spokesman, as the new chief of the local police precinct.

Iman is replacing Lt. Col. Djoko Satryo, who was promoted as deputy commander of the cadet detachment at the Semarang Police Academy.

Two days later, Hamami will install Lt. Col. Yudhi Susharyanto, who is currently head of the vehicle registration unit at the Jakarta Traffic Police Directorate, as the new Depok police precinct, said spokesman Iman yesterday.

Yudhi replaces Lt. Col. Herman SS, who has been appointed secretary of the Jakarta Traffic Police Directorate.

The top seat at the Depok Police precinct has always been dominated by traffic police officers.

On Oct. 8, Chief Hamami will install Lt. Col. M. Ibrahim, the North Jakarta Police chief, as the new Central Jakarta Police chief, replacing Lt. Col. Abubakar Nata Prawira.

The latter has been promoted to a colonel as the new chief of Palembang in South Sumatra.

Ibrahim's former post will be handed over to Lt. Col. Rismawan from the Jakarta Police Intelligence and Security Division.

Rismawan will be installed on Oct. 9, Iman said.

On the next day, Hamami will install his former coordinating secretary, Lt. Col. Nanan Sukarna, as the new East Jakarta Police chief.

Nanan replaces Lt. Col. Gories Mere, who has been promoted to secretary of the Jakarta Police Crime Investigation Directorate.

The installment of the five new chiefs is based on a decree issued by National Police Chief Lt. Gen. Dibyo Widodo dated Sept. 5.

The chiefs of the Bekasi, South Jakarta, West Jakarta and Tanjung Priok Port police precincts will remain at their posts, said spokesman Iman.

When asked about who will take over his former post, Iman said: "So far, I've received no name of the person to replace me."

Besides installing the five police precinct chiefs, Hamami is also scheduled to install a number of senior officers in their posts at the Jakarta Police Headquarters beginning next week.

They will include top positions at the logistics, personnel and internal affairs divisions, said Iman. (bsr)
