Five local teams to join Tour d'Indonesia

JAKARTA : It was confirmed on Monday that five local cycling
teams would take part in the first Tour d'Indonesia, which will
be from Jakarta to Denpasar, Bali, from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6.

The five teams -- Polygon Sweet Nice Surabaya A, CCC Bea Cukai
Jakarta, Dodol Picnic Kuda Laut Bank Jabar, Polygon Sweet Nice
Surabaya B and Sinar Sentosa Purwakarta -- qualified for the race
as the top five in the rankings based on their performances in
Tour de Jabar, Walikota Surabaya Cup and Tour de Sulawesi
Selatan.

The Tour d'Indonesia, which will cover a total of 1,500
kilometers and have US$100,000 in cash prizes on offer, will also
feature seven foreign teams: Switzerland, Hong Kong, Egypt, Iran,
Chinese Taipei, Malaysia and Thailand. -- JP
