Five killed in toll crash

TANGERANG, West Java (JP); Five died and eight were severely injured in a crash on the Jakarta-Merak toll road on Wednesday.

All the victims were passengers and crew of an intercity bus, P.O. Timbul Jaya Ekspres, which was traveling the Palembang- Kalideres route from West Jakarta to South Sumatra.

The crash occurred in the Cikupa district around 6:30 p.m.

Another bus crashed into the Timbul Jaya causing it to crash into a broken truck parked on the side, a police source said.

The Timbul Jaya bus driver, Rochimat, and a four-year old passenger, M.Ardan Pohan,died.

The driver of the other bus fled.

Survivors said the driver drove recklessly since the bus left the Kalideres terminal at 5:30 with 25 passengers. (28/anr)
