Five killed in Medan

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Five men were killed Monday in the
Tuntungan district here, some 20 kilometers southwest of Medan,
in a battle with residents. Bows and arrows and machetes were
among the weapons used, Reuters reported.

Locals said the trigger was because villagers refused the
men's demand for money. They said they were fed up of the men
they describe as thugs, who had long extorted them.
