Five killed in bus accident

PEKANBARU, Riau: Five died when the bus they were riding in
overturned on the Pekanbaru-Duri highway on Thursday morning,
Antara reported.

A police spokesman in Duri said the accident occurred near
Kandis village in Mandau district, Bengkalis regency, some 80
kilometers from Pekanbaru. A representative of PMH bus company
said five people were killed and several others wounded in the
accident.

"So far we don't know why it happened or how many passengers
were aboard," the representative said.

The 120-kilometer highway in Pekanbaru is a dangerous stretch
of road, with almost daily accidents occurring along the highway.
