Five die in road accident

BREBES, Central Java: After failing to overtake a car, a
minibus crashed into an oncoming truck, killing all five people
on board on Sunday, police said yesterday.

Chief of Brebes police precinct Lt. Col. Adnan Jupri said the
accident happened at about 9.30 a.m. Sunday. Three of the victims
died in hospital a few hours after the accident.

Adnan said the minibus driver was to blame for the accident
because he had overtaken the car on a steep hill.

"Besides, a warning sign was clearly posted on the roadside,"
Adnan told The Jakarta Post.

The truck driver was not hurt but his vehicle has been
confiscated. (wah/pan)
