Five children win trip to Australia

JAKARTA: Five children beat 30 finalists from eight provinces in the McKids It's My Club creativity contest and won a trip to Australia.

C. Irina of Jakarta and Made Tosan Aji Pamungkas of Denpasar won the writing competition while Christofer Andrew (Jakarta), P.A. Adi Kurnia (Surakarta, Central Java) and Naesilla (Jember, East Java) won the drawing competition, jointly held by McDonald's Indonesia and the Tourism Department of New South Wales, Australia.

The jury led by writer Arswendo Atmowiloto evaluated the writing competition entrants from their ideas, narration, and originality while in the drawing contest, the children's imagination and artistic sense were the main criteria.

"All the finalists have produced great works. Frankly speaking, I'm sure great writers and painters will emerge from this competition," Arswendo said last weekend.

About 700 children from across the country took part in the competition. --JP
