Fishermen complain about too many boats

TANGERANG (JP): Hundreds of fishermen in Surya Bahari village in the Pakuhaji district here complained about the shallow port on the Cituis river and the fact that it is overcrowded with boats.

"The port is packed with over 1,000 fishermen along with their boats every day," Nasirudin, chief of Mina Samudra Cooperative Unit, said on Wednesday.

"The port as well as the fish auction is no longer sufficient as the river is also getting too shallow for boarding the vessels," he said, adding that the cooperative has been demanding the local administration's assistance for more than three months, but to no avail.

The port is filled with mud and garbage, he said.

"We need to coordinate a better plan so the port and the auction hall can be repaired and more fishermen will be able to sell their fish properly," he said. (41/edt)
