MAUMERE, East Nusa Tenggara (JP): Minister of Maritime
Exploration and Fisheries Sarwono Kusumaatmadja said East Nusa
Tenggara should prepare its human resources in the maritime
sector to exploit its rich marine assets.

"Now we only have six maritime experts with doctoral degrees
in the province," Sarwono said during a visit on Wednesday.

He lamented that Indonesia as a whole often neglected its rich
marine resources despite being blessed with great marine
potential.

"Many high school students choose to take majors in economics,
sciences or medicine rather maritime studies," he said.(emf/yac)
