Plaza Indonesia blends luxury and prestigious shopping
In celebrating its 15th anniversary on March 15, 2005 (today),
Plaza Indonesia will launch a number of expansion projects to
maintain its prestige as one of the most celebrated shopping and
entertainment complex in Jakarta.
Under the Phase 2 Extension Project Plan, Plaza Indonesia will
extend its retail space by another 35,000 sq meters, as well as
to build a 48-floor exclusive apartment building and a 50-floor
prestigious office tower, along with finest lifestyle facilities.
The expansion project will commence in July 2005 and is
scheduled for completion in mid 2007, making Plaza Indonesia not
only as the most modern shopping complex but also as the largest
shopping centers in Jakarta.
The four-story Plaza Indonesia opened for the first time in
March 1990 as one of the most modern shopping complex in Jakarta.
The opening of the five-star diamond Grand Hyatt Hotel Jakarta on
the same complex a year later further turned Plaza Indonesia as
the most distinguished shopping complex in the city.
The shopping and entertainment complex provides every shopping
need under one roof with a wide selection of international
fashion labels, household products, dining menus and a variety of
consumer lifestyle services.
With Sogo Department Store as the anchor tenant, Plaza
Indonesia shopping center is a home to 233 upscale retailers,
including numerous flagship boutiques of international brands and
first class food and beverage (F & B) outlets.
Thanks to its relentless endeavors in enhancing its zoning and
tenant mix as well as in improving its shopping facilities, the
shopping complex has lured many more exclusive international
retailers.
Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Versace, Hermes, Mont Blanc, Gucci,
Philippe Charriol, and Dunhil - to name but a few - are among the
many of the world's top exclusive brands that have established a
business partnership with Plaza Indonesia.
The United Kingdom-based Debenhams Department Store also
opened its outlet in the plaza in 2004, along with other
exclusive brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Roger Dubuis and
Cortina Watch.
With exclusive boutiques of top international luxury brands,
the Plaza provides consumers a first-rate and world-class
shopping experience.
Plaza Indonesia made debut as the most tempting high-end
entertainment destination, with the opening of entertainment
center, eX, in February 2004. Connected to the shopping center,
the two-floor eX uniquely blends art, retail, entertainment
facilities and dining venues.
The brightly colored eX building is built in contemporary
style with minimalist exterior and interior. The eX's atrium hall
in the main lobby, part of the center's 'young jet set area', is
frequently used as a venue for various appealing events like
musical performances, launching products and fashion shows.
Several prestigious cafes, such as Star Buck Coffee, are
available at the lobby.
Fitness enthusiasts can look forward to eX's well-equipped
fitness club. The Celebrity Fitness Center on the first and the
second floor of the eX building is a luxury fitness club that
blends sports and entertainment. The center's lockers and waiting
rooms next to a cafe are designed in minimalist style, providing
fresh atmosphere for those who have just finished taking an
exercise. The center is also equipped with sauna and steam.
If you love for bowling, there is Spincity bowling alley, with
sporty and cozy atmosphere. The two-floor Spincity with an area
of 3,500 square meters is complete with Alisan Cafe and Q
Billiard. The bowling alley comprises 22 lanes made of high
quality wooden synthetic.
Besides fitness center and bowling alley, the eX is also
equipped with an exclusive cinema, cafes, beauty salons and new
outlets for those who have a passion for collecting car replicas
or raising decorated fish.
"We are continuing to build more facilities to complete our
efforts to create convenience of shopping for our customers. We
are striving to meet our customers' needs for facilities and
services as we are committed to the best," said PT Plaza
Indonesia Realty's General Manager Corporate PR & Tenant
Relations Henny Udy.
For customers' high comfort of shopping, Plaza Indonesia has
not only upgraded its building facilities but also improve the
service. The building's air-conditioning system, for instance,
was upgraded with a new, more efficient chiller system and
several new handling units that provide cooler indoor
temperature.
To provide the best possible customer service, Plaza Indonesia
pays particular attention to the operational details, such as
making regular checks on shopping center facilities, the parking
area, valet parking, air-conditioned mushola (prayer room),
toilets, changing rooms and security devices.
Since it opened 15 years ago, Plaza Indonesia has also engaged
in wide-ranging community service efforts to demonstrate its
strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and to
ensure its long-term sustainability. In cooperation with Media
Indonesia daily, TV stations Metro TV and RCTI, Plaza Indonesia
has provided funds for improving the welfare of teachers and
constructing school buildings and other education-related
matters.
At least 10 percent of Plaza Indonesia's 7000 employees live
in the areas surrounding the shopping center, including those
from Kebon Kacang and Tanah Abang districts. In response to the
growing demand for a medium to accommodate the interests of
shopping center managements, Plaza Indonesia has pioneered the
establishment of the Indonesian Shopping Center Management
Association, with Plaza Indonesia's Operational Director, M.
Sjohrin, as chairman.
Plaza Indonesia has also given strong support to the city
administration's development programs, such as the construction
of a pedestrian sidewalk in front of the shopping center and its
participation in the Jakarta Great Sale.
With a wide selection of exclusive items, high quality
entertainment facilities, excellent service plus its prime
location in the center of Jakarta's business district, Plaza
Indonesia shopping center has become the most preferred shopping
and entertainment destination.
