Firms may lose licenses

JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Industry Tunky Ariwibowo yesterday announced how factories could lose their licenses.

"The license of any industrial company can be revoked when it expands its factory without giving notice to my office or moves without written consent," Tunky said.

He said that factories could lose their licenses if they destroyed the environment or engaged in business not stated in their licenses.

Companies will have their licenses revoked if they don't report the commencement of operations within a certain period or if they intentionally submit false information.

According to the deregulation package announced on May 23, the government has done away with provisional licenses and will now issue business licenses which are valid for the company's lifetime. (rid)
